Creates and maintains the processes of the division's quality program. Also provides consulting for software development or operations processes, quality practices, quality audits, and software measurements to product development or operations teams within the division and to clients.

The Software Test Analyst serves as the primary resource responsible for developing the functional test scenarios for multiple projects. The Software Test Analyst will work closely with the project team to write user stories that define the acceptance criteria, determine the scope of testing (Unit vs. Functional), create test scenarios in Microsoft Test Manager using Gherkin Syntax and work with the automation engineer to automate the test scenarios prior to start of sprint in which the requirement/user story is developed. The analyst also executes both manual and automated test cases, provides testing status, tracks software defects /enhancements, and verifies software fixes. The analyst works in close collaboration with other scrum team members to assist in the reproduction and resolution of defects. The majority of testing efforts center around Web based applications and API.


  • Effetively communicates testing activities and findings in oral and written forms.
  • Work in an agile environment.
  • Help drive software design using TDD/BDD methodology.
  • Work with members of the application development, product management, and QA teams to ensure high-quality applications.
  • Develop and refine the "done" criteria for user stories along with product owner and Agile Software Development team.
  • Develop functional tests (user acceptance tests) for stories, features and capabilities, to validate that they work the way the Product Owner (or Customer/user) intended.
  • Work with Automation Engineer to automate test scenarios as part of the BDD process.
  • Perform usability testing for total system reliability and security.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum to review acceptance criteria, provide test estimates and execute tests.
  • Actively participate in Sprint Activities (Grooming, Planning, Retrospectives and Demos).
  • Prepare project status reports and participate in project review, quality review and audit with the various stakeholders.
  • Controls and manages own daily test activities.
  • Work with scrum team to identify risks and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Organizes and maintains the test script library.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.


  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and technology used in manual and automated testing
  • Knowledge of the basic principles, processes, phases and roles of application development methodologies
  • Knowledge of object-oriented development tools, techniques, and principles with expertise in at least one (1) object-oriented language
  • Experience with TDD, BDD, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery
  • Knowledge of primary database engines with a demonstrated ability to write complex queries to be used for data validation and troubleshooting
  • Skill in understanding and focusing on the clients' needs
  • Skill in analysis, solid decision-making and problem-solving
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment where developers and testing personnel work closely together to ensure requirements are met or exceeded
  • Ability to deliver results under pressure
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills, working with technical and non-technical individuals
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors and public

Software Test Analyst III

Advanced professional role. Highly skilled with extensive proficiency. Develops large and/or complex solutions that require analysis and research. Works on multiple projects as a project leader or frequently as the subject matter expert. Works on projects/issues of medium to high complexity that require demonstrated knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments. Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff. Works under minimal supervision on complex projects. Wide latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires six (6) or more years of demonstrated experience in software testing.
