This individual is responsible for managing all components of a global, high-visibility project across all business units. Accountable to several senior executives (including the CEO, President and CFO), this individual ensures that this project is appropriately planned, organized, staffed and managed across all required disciplines and organizational units in the company. Hands-on individual with strong command of the details will need to work continually throughout the life cycle of the project with all involved business unit staff and executive management to ensure that expectations and the project objectives and deliverables are aligned and effectively communicated.
The focus of this position will be:
(1) Develop, manage, and execute a project plan to drive a global transition effort across all business units; manage and direct up to 2 business analysts to support project execution
(2) Proactively drive and coordinate work across all business units, leveraging suppliers support where needed; will need to manage through conflict and resistance as a change or transformation agent during this project
(3) Develop and execute, with support of the global communications team, a communications plan (both internal and external) throughout the effort
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
Develops scope, project plans, schedules, and budget (e.g., project organization, staffing, budget, phases), building in consideration for priorities, dependencies, and critical paths. Establishes and tracks the project. Manages the execution, control, and conclusion of the project such that the chartered business objectives are attained on time, and are complete and within budget.
Establishes and successfully manages governance model throughout the project, including clear roles and responsibilities; provide regular updates (dashboards, status updates, etc.) to various levels of the organization; ensure timely escalation and resolution of any issues
Provides overall management and direction within the governance model; is responsible for all updates and communications related to project (may work with corporate communications) and for managing the governance model for the project; ensures timely escalation and resolution of any issues
Identify key resources required for the project; effectively communicate roles and responsibilities with identified resources throughout the firm as required for the project and manage the resources to ensure successful and timely delivery of established deliverables
Directs the establishment and maintenance of appropriate issue/risk/problem management mechanisms for the project
Manages the creation and maintenance of appropriate project documentation
Creates and communicates a clear and accurate picture of project/program status and adapts the message to provide the appropriate detail for all levels of stakeholders on a regular basis and as agreed in the governance model
Maintains a balanced perspective between the delivery needs of project sponsor and the ongoing operational needs of the organization
Presents strong leadership skills to manage through conflict quickly and to effective resolution
Works closely with senior management, including the CEO and President, on a regular basis to ensure project success
Acts as a change or transformation agent in addition to a project manager
Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables where applicable.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Finance, Legal, Process Engineering, Supply Chain Management; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience at large management consulting firms in leading/executing highly visible, senior-level, global projects with change management focus is preferred
Must have knowledge of the asset management industry, including experience with financial market data (specifically benchmarks/indices)
5+ years of project management experience in the financial services industry
5+ years of experience of both direct and indirect management
5+ years of experience in third party supplier negotiations and contract is a plus
Extensive experience in the management of third party market data is a plus
Experience in developing effective sourcing and procurement strategies and policies, ideally within financial services
Ability to develop influencing relationship with varying levels of management and individual contributors from various business units.
Experienced in negotiating contracts; clear understanding of contractual terms and conditions; strong financial modeling skills.
Experienced in the development and implementation of supplier management practices and/or processes on an enterprise basis, including SLAs, KPIs, and governance models
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to influence and persuade others through demonstration of management and leadership capabilities
Proficient negotiation and financial modeling skills.
Ability to root cause problem/issues and provide solutions/options support with fact base/data driven analysis.
Able to balance and prioritize multiple high priority projects.
Able to influence and lead others within the department, business units, and various support units.
Confidence and ability to work autonomously and with a high level of attention to detail within a fast-paced and high profile environment
Attention to detail for accurate administration of projects including contract, budget, asset management and general support
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project
