Our client, a prestigious Investment Bank is looking to hire a Chief Risk Officer. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior risk professional to join and build the new division and put together a proactive risk management framework. The ideal candidate needs to display broad risk experience across all dimensions and should be currently leading a risk function for an International Bank.
Reporting to the Board Risk Committee along with a dotted line to the CEO; the Chief Risk Officer will ensure that the risk frameworks in the company are operating effectively and are maintained and updated as approved by the CEO in line with its strategy.
This mandate extends to the firm, its subsidiaries and any joint venture or partnership activities undertaken, and include all aspects of risk (e.g. credit risk, operational risk, market risk, strategic risk, technical risk, reputation risk etc.)
Establish procedures for monitoring, maintaining and updating risk policies and guidelines in line with business growth; he/she should be able to establish a proactive and consistent strong risk oversight and management with an approach that key risks are communicated regularly and consistently at management meetings.
Implement a framework that allows for proper understanding and control of all risks – Operational Risk, Market/Investment risk, Credit Risk and Liquidity Risk.
Identifying potential or actual exposures as a consequence of firm’s strategy and operating model (e.g. proprietary trading, assets versus liabilities, reputational risk etc.) and managing / mitigating such exposures.
Design the group’s annual and long-term risk strategy and its regular reporting to the CEO, Executive Management and Board Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in risk management; along with 5 years in a senior management position with proven ability to oversee a number of risk types, including credit, market, operational, investment, regulatory and strategic risk.
Ideal candidate will be currently leading a risk management function as a CRO, Head of Risk or Deputy Head of Risk for a Regional/ International Investment Bank, Sovereign Wealth Fund, Asset Management arm, or a leading Private Equity firm.
Must possess leadership qualities and have substantial experience in presenting to the Board Risk Committee along with a clear track record of building and leading effective teams.
Business degree or other appropriate qualifications and risk certifications.
