Head of Financial Control, Planning & Analysis

Mourant London, United Kingdom
Head of Financial Control, Planning & Analysis
Are you an experienced finance leader who thrives on driving accuracy, insight, and strategic impact across a business?

We have an exceptional opportunity for a senior finance professional to join our Finance Leadership Team as Head of Financial Control, Planning & Analysis (FCP&A). You'll work closely with our Finance Director, CFO and senior leaders across the firm to ensure transactions are accurately accounted for, reporting is timely and meaningful, and the business receives insightful analysis to support decision-making.

This is a key role in our global, professional-services environment - one that requires technical expertise, strong leadership and the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple jurisdictions. If you want to be part of an ambitious, forward-thinking firm whose inclusive culture recognises that its people are central to its success, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role
  • Lead the FCP&A team day-to-day, fostering a high-performing, collaborative and development-focused culture.
  • Oversee financial control activity, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial governance and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and ensure delivery within required timelines.
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes, providing clear insight and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Drive meaningful financial analysis, identifying trends, risks and opportunities and presenting insights to senior leaders.
  • Oversee cashflow forecasting and partner with Tax and Finance Operations to ensure a full and accurate financial picture.
  • Ensure robust financial controls are implemented, maintained and continuously improved to mitigate financial risk.
  • Provide strategic financial input for new initiatives, business areas or geographies, ensuring they are correctly accounted for and aligned with group reporting standards.
  • Build strong, influential relationships across Finance and the wider business, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Lead, support and develop a team of qualified finance professionals, ensuring continuous improvement and professional growth.

About you
  • Chartered or Certified Accountant qualification (ACA/ACCA) with 12+ years' experience in senior finance roles across multi-jurisdictional or multi-business-unit environments.
  • Experience working in a law firm, professional services environment, or trust and corporate services provider.
  • Strong technical experience in implementing and maintaining financial controls and ensuring compliance across a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills - able to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders.
  • A proactive, detail-focused problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced global business and adapts easily to changing priorities.

Any years of experience stated in this job description is intended as a guide only. All candidates are welcome to apply regardless of their experience, and will be considered based on their relevant technical knowledge and skills.
