The Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and highly regarded Private Client Tax team, where you'll gain exposure to a wide range of trust and estate matters and have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and advisory skills.
Whether you're looking to progress your career as a Tax Assistant or step into a Senior role, we'll support your development through ongoing training, professional qualifications and exposure to complex client work.
Supporting a portfolio of trusts, estates and high-net-worth individuals. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering both compliance and advisory services, working closely with clients, trustees, executors and colleagues across the firm.

The Role

Supporting a portfolio of trusts, estates and high-net-worth individuals. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering both compliance and advisory services, working closely with clients, trustees, executors and colleagues across the firm.
The main elements of this role will include but not be limited to:
- Preparing Trust and Estate Tax Returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
- Managing a portfolio of trusts and estates, acting as a key point of contact for clients, trustees, executors and intermediaries.
- Assisting with the administration of trusts and estates, including inheritance tax reporting and compliance requirements.
- Supporting the Private Client Tax Team with advisory projects relating to trusts, estates, succession planning, inheritance tax and capital gains tax matters.
- Obtaining information from clients and third parties, ensuring all necessary documentation is received and maintained.
- Identifying tax planning opportunities within the portfolio and escalating these to senior members of the team where appropriate.
- Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients regarding compliance matters, enquiries and ongoing tax issues.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business to deliver an exceptional client experience.
- Assisting with the onboarding of new clients and completion of risk management and compliance documentation.
- Keeping up to date with changes in trust and estate taxation legislation and communicating any potential implications to the wider team.
The Candidate
In order to fulfil the responsibilities of the position, we would like candidates to be / have:
- AAT, ATT or CTA qualified/part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
- A Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience working within an Accountancy Practice or, Law Firm
- A minimum of 2 years' practical experience of Trusts and Estates Tax compliance.
- An understanding of Trust Registration Service (TRS) requirements and trust administration processes.
- Knowledge of Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax as they relate to trusts and estates.
- Experience of working directly with clients, trustees and executors and providing a high level of service.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to build effective relationships internally and externally.
- A proactive approach with the ability to identify issues and opportunities and escalate where appropriate.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
