Squarepoint Capital New York, United States
Assistant Controller - CLO Products
Position Overview:

We are seeking a Assistant Controller (level commensurate with experience) to oversee the accounting, financial reporting, and operational control functions for our
Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) product suite within a global, systematic, multi-strategy hedge fund. This role sits at the intersection of fund accounting, structured credit operations, and external reporting, and requires close, ongoing collaboration with
independent trustees, fund administrators, and collateral agents. The successful candidate will be a key control point for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of CLO-related financial information provided to internal stakeholders and external parties (investors, lenders, auditors, and regulators).

CLO Accounting & Reporting
  • Oversee the full accounting lifecycle for CLO vehicles, including collateral accounting,
waterfall mechanics, and compliance test reporting (OC/IC tests, collateral quality tests)
  • Review and approve monthly/quarterly trustee reports, payment date reports, and note
valuation reports for accuracy against internal books and records
  • Coordinate with independent trustees and fund administrators to reconcile collateral
positions, cash activity, and NAV calculations
  • Review distribution waterfalls and payment calculations ahead of each payment date

PnL and Management Reporting
  • Review daily/monthly PnL for CLO strategies, investigating and resolving breaks
between trading systems, administrator records, and trustee reports
  • Prepare and review management-level financial packages summarizing CLO
performance, fees, and risk/return metrics for internal leadership and investment teams
  • Support attribution analysis distinguishing mark-to-market movements, realized
    gains/losses, and interest income/expense

External and Investor Reporting
  • Prepare or review financial statements, investor letters, and capital account statements related to CLO vehicles
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for fund administrators and independent trustees on accounting treatment, reporting timelines, and issue resolution
  • Support external audit processes (annual audits, agreed-upon procedures) including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries

Controls & Process
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over CLO financial reporting, including
reconciliations between the collateral manager's books, trustee reports, and
    administrator NAVs
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across CLO reporting workflows
  • Ensure compliance with governing documents (indentures, collateral management
agreements) from an accounting and reporting perspective
  • Partner with Operations, Legal, and Compliance on new CLO issuances, resets,
    refinancings, and wind-downs

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting, structured credit, or CLO administration (asset management, fund administrator, trustee, or public accounting background considered)
  • Direct hands-on experience with CLO structures - collateral accounting, waterfall mechanics, and trustee/administrator reporting - is required
  • Strong understanding of loan/credit instruments, GAAP, and relevant regulatory reporting requirements
  • Experience working directly with trustees, fund administrators, and auditors
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting or CLO-specific systems (e.g.,Wall Street Office, ClearPar, Geneva, or similar) a plus
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadline-driven reporting cycles simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, global, multi-strategy hedge fund environment

The minimum base salary for this role is $120,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation.
