Associate Director, Bain Academy

Bain & Company Amsterdam, Netherlands
Associate Director, Bain Academy
Description & Requirements

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You'll join Bain Academy, a global team that helps clients and executives build the capabilities they need to deliver lasting results. We design and deliver customized, immersive learning experiences that strengthen leadership, accelerate results, and build enduring promoters of Bain.

Our portfolio includes more than 100 masterclasses on topics such as strategic thinking, RAPID® decision effectiveness, Agile innovation, generative AI, consultative selling, business storytelling, Net Promoter System, influencing others, and high-performing teams. We also develop executive programs that strengthen general management and leadership capabilities, as well as blended learning experiences that combine live workshops with self-paced digital learning.

We are passionate about unleashing potential and creating impact through learning, application, and continuous development.

WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

As an Associate Director in Bain Academy, you'll design and deliver high-impact, interactive learning programs for clients across in-person, virtual, and digital formats. You'll serve as a thought leader and content creator, collaborating with experts across Bain to develop capability-building content that inspires, engages, and drives measurable change.

You'll advise Bain case teams on capability-building opportunities, lead workshops for priority clients, and help shape Bain Academy's global strategy as we continue to scale.

This role draws on the core skills of an experienced consulting leader: developing compelling content, solving complex problems, facilitating workshops, influencing senior stakeholders, and managing a diverse range of relationships. The role may involve approximately 20-25% travel, with flexibility depending on your focus and interests.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Deliver world-class learning experiences
  • Advise Client Heads, Office Heads, and case teams on client capability-building needs.
  • Share expertise on learning and development topics with Bain and client leadership teams.
  • Identify and share relevant materials to support capability-building proposals and client discussions.
  • Provide rapid-response support to Bain teams seeking capability-building content and expertise.
  • Partner with account teams on client development activities, including contributing to proposals.
  • Lead and co-deliver Bain Academy programs, tailoring design and content to the client context.
  • Design and facilitate engaging workshops, Train the Trainer sessions, and blended learning programs.
  • Support high-quality program execution, from aligning with clients on the approach through event delivery and participant follow-up.

Build and evolve Bain Academy learning assets
  • Work closely with solution leaders and experts to design high-impact training modules and immersive exercises.
  • Develop learning experiences across topics such as Agile innovation, sales effectiveness, Net Promoter System, procurement, and performance transformation.
  • Adapt internal Bain training content for external audiences.
  • Develop blended learning journeys that combine live and digital experiences.
  • Help shape Bain's point of view on capability building and contribute to the evolution of our digital learning strategy.
  • Curate relevant external content and collaborate with colleagues across Bain.
  • Explore and pilot creative learning techniques and formats, including simulations, gamification, interactive exercises, and emerging technologies.

Recent examples of Bain Academy work include immersive Agile and innovation training; sales learning journeys supported by AI-powered coaching; blended Net Promoter System learning programs; a procurement curriculum incorporating an interactive strategy board game; and programs that equip Bain teams and clients to support large-scale performance transformations.

Drive Bain Academy's growth and strategy
  • Partner with senior leadership to refine and implement Bain Academy's global strategy.
  • Develop marketing materials and build internal awareness and demand for Bain Academy offerings.
  • Contribute to periodic strategy reviews focused on maximizing client impact.

Contribute to Bain's internal learning programs

While this role is primarily focused on Bain Academy's client-facing offerings, you may also have opportunities to support priority internal learning programs depending on demand, capacity, and personal interest. Examples include working styles, personal productivity, facilitation skills, Agile, and new learning-content development.

ABOUT YOU

You bring consulting experience, a passion for learning design and delivery, and the confidence to step seamlessly into client-facing situations as both a subject matter expert and trusted advisor.

You will also bring:
  • Current or recent experience as a Bain consulting Senior Manager, with a rating of "Strong Impact/Contribution" or higher in your most recent professional development review, or demonstrated mastery of the Manager, Bain Academy role.
  • A demonstrated passion for training, with experience as a trainer at a global program preferred.
  • Experience managing teams in project-based environments.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
  • A creative, detail-oriented, execution-focused approach and the ability to adapt to evolving needs.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative with limited direction.
  • The ability to work effectively across global teams, including flexibility to adjust priorities and working hours to meet client needs.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A high level of discretion when managing confidential and sensitive information.
  • A personal commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Knowledge, certification, or experience in areas such as product management, MBTI, Agile/Scrum, Net Promoter System, coaching, or coding.

You are collaborative and know how to work with and through others to deliver results. You are entrepreneurial, proactive, and energized by building something new. You combine insight, creativity, and problem-solving with a pragmatic understanding of what will work for clients and teams.

You also bring energy and enthusiasm to learning experiences, communicate in a way that inspires others, and are comfortable working in a global, remote-first environment. Above all, you are a supportive colleague and teammate whom clients and Bain colleagues enjoy working with.

WHAT BAIN ACADEMY CAN OFFER YOU
  • Professional development: Build deep expertise in capability building and Bain's priority solution areas, with access to external certifications and training opportunities.
