He will be working in a team which includes Geoffrey Wood of City University and will focus on economic and interest rate forecasting as part of the treasury management services that Prebon provides for its public sector, building society and corporate clients. Before working for the Government, Burns was a director of the London Business School Centre for economic research and a professor of economics. He is a non-executive director of Legal and General and was recently appointed a non-executive director of Pearson, the media group. James Nelson, director of F&C Ventures, has taken over as chairman of the British Venture Capital Association from Clive Sherling, director of Apax Partners. Nelson founded F&C Ventures in the early 1980s and has played a leading role in its subsequent development. Richard Reinius, 32, and Ase Lindskog, 36, have been hired by the Swiss government to help improve the profitability and management of Swiss state-owned companies. Reinius, a former equity analyst with Credit Suisse First Boston and BZW in London, is joining the Industry Department's division for state enterprises along with Lindskog, a former portfolio manager for Robur, one of Sweden's largest fund managers. Lindskog was also a secretary general of the Swedish Association of Financial Analysts.
