Barclays has appointed David Allvey as chief financial officer, replacing Oliver Stocken. He will be on the Barclays board when he joins the firm in September. Allvey was formerly chief of corporate operations at Zurich Financial Services where he oversaw accounting, financial control, tax, treasury and information technology. David Jervis, 38, has been appointed head of Merrill Lynch's Paris office. He has worked at the firm's London office since 1996, in charge of sales and trading for emerging markets and then managing director of global equities after 1997. Jervis joined Merrill from Kleinwort Benson in 1986. The London Clearing House has appointed four new member shareholder representatives to the board. Richard Berliand, managing director at JP Morgan Securities, Vivian Davies, chief executive officer at Brandeis, Catherine Fitzmaurice, managing director of Salomon Brothers International's European fixed income division, and David Pearse, European managing director at Cargill Investor Services. Arnaud Chupin, managing director at Carr Futures, was re-elected for a second term. Stephen Jack, 41, has been appointed chief financial officer at ING Barings. Jack was most recently joint financial controller, investment banking at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he worked for 13 years.
