The new practice will operate under the name Marlar Bennetts International, the search firm founded by his father, Robin Marlar. James Marlar said the new practice had a partner operation in Geneva and planned other strategic alliances.
He said the practice would offer a consultative approach to reflect current market conditions. "Currently, our clients, all annuity-income reliant, require more in the way of useful management information and advice on how to make existing resources sweat," he said. "They don't necessarily want recruitment ideas."
At TMP Worldwide, Marlar focused on asset management and private banking. He previously worked for The Consulting Group.
Meanwhile, another headhunter, Hanson Green Financial Services, has hired Ginny Hutchins to join its asset management and private banking division.
Hutchins also joins from TMP Worldwide and has worked in the recruitment industry for eight years.
