Baker joins from International Financial Placements (Far East) Ltd., of which he was founder and general manager. He has 16 years of specialist financial markets experience and has placed senior bankers and brokers in a range of sectors in Japan and elsewhere in Asia.
He will report to Allan Walker, managing partner of Eban in Tokyo. Baker's arrival comes after the appointment last year of Anne Semple as managing partner of Eban's London office and of Fiona Somerville as a consultant in Hong Kong focusing on asset management and wealth management.
Eban said it saw opportunities for expansion in specialist areas in spite of the economic downturn. Its specialisms include equities and investment banking.
