With the summer holiday season in full swing, hiring announcements were slim last week. Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW) saw three staff depart for rivals.
Jefferies Group, the US-based boutique investment bank, hired two senior research sales professionals from DrKW for its London office. Caspar Shand-Kydd, head of UK small and midcap sales at the bank, will lead the development of Jefferies' UK equity product. James Chataway, a director of equity sales at DrKW, also joined.
Bank of America hired Kamal Sharma from DrKW as a currency strategist covering G10 currencies. Sharma will have a UK focus.
Derivatives: Calyon hires Le-Brusq
Calyon hired Eric Le-Brusq, deputy head of structured products at Société Générale, as part of the continuing expansion of its derivatives business. He is expected to start in the autumn; it's not yet known what his job title will be.
Corporate broking: Citigroup nets juniors
Finally, it emerged that Citigroup has hired 11 new staff for its UK corporate broking business, including seven brokers at associate level or below, and four support staff. Citigroup poached Nigel Mills, chief executive of Hoare Govett, the broking arm of ABN Amro, and six other bankers in June.
Morgan Stanley MD to take time out at Takeover Panel
The Takeover Panel, the regulatory body which administers the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers, appointed Mark Warham, a managing director at Morgan Stanley, as its next director general. Warham starts in December and will take a two-year secondment from the US bank.
Fund management: Swiss hires
Fund management remained the most active area for hiring last week with announcements in Switzerland.
Global Asset Management hired Alexander Ineichen, head of research into hedge funds and other alternative investments at UBS. Ineichen, who will be based in Zurich, will focus on hedge fund strategies, asset allocation and research initiatives.
JP Morgan Asset Management hired Alexander Vogel from BZ Bank as country head for Switzerland.
Artemis, the investment boutique, hired Elaine Gordon, former head of investment specialists at Gartmore. Gordon left Gartmore nine months ago.
