Graduate recruiting among investment banks is increasingly competitive. On one hand, there are 70 applicants per place and banks should be spoilt for choice when they're hiring.
On the other hand, banks' graduate recruiters say they're all competing for the same small pool of super-keen, super-intelligent, super-clued-up students. These high calibre students are supposedly more likely to apply early, meaning that banks all rush to open their application processes as early as possible.
This being the case, you can now apply to work at: Greenhill & Co, an advisory firm specialising in M&A and restructuring.
Despite having a bit of a bad second quarter (profits fell 90% in the three months to June 2012 compared to the same period in 2011), Greenhill is keen to hire graduates and interns in the UK. Applications for its 2013 graduate and internship programmes in the UK have been open since July. You may want to apply soon: it only has 6-8 places.
