Goldman Sachs hired an Evercore banker specialising in energy, oil & gas, and utilities as an executive director. Luke Woodard joined Goldman's London office earlier this month.
Woodard will handle corporate finance and investment banking advisory for the Energy sector in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Prior to joining Goldman, he was a vice president at Evercore for almost two and a half years.
Woodard started his career as an oil & gas, power, utilities and infrastructure analyst at JP Morgan in 2010. He moved to New York as a JPM associate in 2013 and held the position for three years before making it to the vice president in 2016. He relocated to London to take up a vice president role at Evercore a year later.
European M&A deals so far in 2019 are down 57% so far by value versus the same period of 2018, according to Dealogic. In the first quarter of 2019, Goldman Sachs ranked top for M&A advisory work by revenues across Europe, the Middle East and Africa - up from fourth one year earlier.
