Ex-Hedge fund executive joins quant firm paying £3m per head
AI-powered algorithmic trading firm Quadrature seems an attractive proposition to those in the quant trading space as a result of its staggering pay. It's not just the quants it's enticing, however; it's just hired the former CFO of quant hedge fund Winton Capital Management.

Chris Maynard has become Quadrature's head of treasury. He initially joined Winton in 2015 in the same role, building out the fund's treasury function, before being promoted to chief risk officer, then CFO. He left in 2022 to become a consultant at change management consultancy Bailrigg, where he led the client strategy and optimization practice.
Maynard joined Winton at a booming period for the UK hedge fund. It had just come off a record year for revenues and reached its record headcount a year later. Since then, things have looked shaky, with both headcount and revenues plummeting.
Quadrature's revenues also took a hit in its most recent companies house accounts, falling over £100m ($129.8m) year-on-year. Its employees won't mind too much, however, as pay per head at the firm still equaled over £3m for its 113 employees.
Maynard isn't the only Winton alum to join Quadrature recently. Chinmay Kamat, who joined as a quant developer last month, spent four and a half years as a software engineer at Winton, though he joined the firm as a graduate and left in 2020.
