Hedge fund Rokos hired a macro trader from Citadel in London
With all the current geopolitical issues, it's a turbulent time to be a macro trader. Paul Mrockowski, who spent the past three and a half years at Citadel, has the added challenge of adapting to a big new role at a new employer.

Mrockowski is joining Rokos Capital Management, the hedge fund of ex-Goldman Sachs partner Chris Rokos, as its head of portfolio trading. This is the practice of selling large baskets of securities; it has historically been popular in credit but has also taken off across other areas of fixed income in recent years thanks to the electronification of markets.
Mrockowski was also previously a portfolio manager at Saudi-linked conglomerate Olayan Group. There, he traded sovereign credit, rates and foreign exchange. He also worked as an MD at Singapore macro hedge fund Graticule Asset Management.
Rokos was one of the many hedge funds to lose money in the chaotic start to March. Bloomberg said it lost 0.17% last week, bringing its year-to-date returns down to 2.3%. It's a modest drop compared to some rivals; Bloomberg said ExodusPoint had lost its entire year-to-date gains after being up 2.6% in the first two months of the year.
