How to work at an electronic trading firm as an 18-year-old sports fanatic
It's no secret that electronic trading firms like to hire and develop young talent, but they generally set their sights on students who have already finished their first year of university. At Jump Trading, however, a new global internship opportunity is available to people as young as 18 with no scholastic requirements. It helps if you've got a sophisticated dataset of the Curaçao national football team.

Jump has launched the Probability Cup on free-to-play prediction platform SportsPredict. The tournament involves making a number of probability based bets for matches in the upcoming World Cup; for example, participants are asked to provide a likelihood from 1 to 100% that South Africa will commit more fouls than Mexico in today's tournament opener.
The competition, is open to anyone 16 or older but offers an interesting prize to the top performer aged 18 or over: a 10-week paid "fellowship" in Jump's Chicago office, where the winner will assist the running of a $1m sports-related portfolio.
Of course, there's no upper age limit for Jump's competition either. Since the prize is a 'fellowship' rather than an internship, the prize could just as easily go to someone in their 30s. Jump says the tournament was birthed from the view that exceptional talent can come from anywhere.
It's not clear how much the fellowship will pay, but the competition's FAQs page says it will be "commensurate with Jump Trading Group standard practices for similar short-term internship roles based in its Chicago headquarters." Jump doesn't disclose pay for its Chicago interns but, in New York, where salary disclosures are mandatory, we've seen salaries ranging from $4.8k to $5.8k per week. A ten week fellowship may net the competition's winner upwards of $40k.
