Matthew Lloyd joined BNP Paribas Exane in London yesterday, as a managing director (MD) and head of the firm’s fledgling UK midcap equities research team. Lloyd spent nearly 17 years at HSBC and was most recently head of the British bank’s own UK midcap equities research team.
In a social media post yesterday, Lloyd said he was looking forward to “building out a strong UK midcap equities research product” with both “new and old” colleagues.
Some of those “old” colleagues were Lloyd’s co-stars in a series of videos published in January, which extolled HSBC’s equity research team shortly before it was closed down. In one video, Lloyd said that the team had "decades of experience."
Simon Klepp, an industrials analyst from the same videos, joined BNP in June. Daniel Cowan, like Lloyd a MidCap analyst, also joined BNP this month.
