Citi hired Deutsche Bank's co-head of M&A

Where is Stuart Ord? Three days ago, Ord, who was co-head of M&A at Deutsche Bank, announced he was leaving and going on gardening leave.

Ord isn't commenting on his intentions. But when he returns from gardening leave in August, we understand that he is joining Citi.

Citi declined to comment for this article. Sources at Citi say Ord's arrival has already been announced internally. It is understood that he will head of UK M&A. Citi's existing head of UK M&A, Sian Evans, was recently appointed deputy director of the Takeover Panel, starting this summer.

Speaking last week, Vis Raghavan, head of the investment bank at Citi, said the bank now has 100 fewer managing directors than some rivals and that he intends to hire more bankers as the year progresses.

Ord is not Citi's only hire from Deutsche Bank. The US bank also hired Henning Wagner in Germany in April. Conversely, Citi bankers have been joining Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Bankers have been both complaining and leaving as a result.

In the first quarter of 2026, Dealogic rankings say that Citi ranked outside the top 10 for UK M&A. So did Deutsche Bank.
