London banking body says it has 60-week tech courses for £51k jobs

The Walbrook Institute was known for almost its entire history as the London Institute of Banking & Finance. It rebranded earlier this year to the new name to reflect what it calls a “successful expansion beyond offering traditional banking and finance qualifications.”
The core of that expansion is its MBA. While most MBAs are grounded in accounting and finance and marketing and similar disciplines, Walbrook instead offers an MBA in artificial intelligence. It also offers undergraduate courses in cybersecurity. Both are completely online.
Steve Hill, CEO of the Walbrook Institute, says that the courses “serve ambitious professionals” who “refuse to be held back by outdated approaches to learning.” He dreams of seeing the future inherited by “the school leaver passionate about data science.”
Luckily, the Walbrook Institute puts its money where its mouth is – you only need 3 GCSES or a year of work experience to enroll for its MBA. You also need £8,880 (around $12k) – the institute’s website helpfully shows that you can either pay upfront or pay by module.
You can also (luckily!) enroll at any time of the year, for any given month. “We're breaking the constraints of rigid academic calendars that assume learning takes place on universities' schedules,” Hill says. If you’re in love with being a kitchen porter who is an AI thought leader or whatever, you “shouldn't have to wait until September.”
Unfortunately, cybersecurity and AI jobs don’t have the same pedigree that front-office jobs (which an MBA traditionally fed into) do. They also don’t have the same pay: levels.fyi suggests that a cybersecurity analyst in London can earn an average of £88k all-in. That’s on par with what a junior investment banker in London makes, not including their bonus. Ouch.
