Currently managing director of international equities at HSBC, Skeoch has known European equity chief Graham Wood and the rest of the SLI team for many years as the company is a long-standing HSBC client. Skeoch has worked at HSBC for 19 years. Investment consultancy William M Mercer has revised its management structure. Tim Gardener continues as overall practice leader, while a new executive group will run the day-to-day UK pension fund business. Its members will be Andrew Kirton, Andy Green and Andy Barber, with John Rushen chairing the group in a non-executive capacity. Kirton assumes full operational responsibility, dealing with staffing, finance and delivery of services. Green becomes manager of intellectual capital and new service development, including Mercer's asset liability and investment risk-modelling capabilities. Barber takes responsibility for delivering investment manager knowledge to clients. Working with Pam Gerrud, head of manager research, he will continue his role as chair of Mercer's UK rating committee. Putnam Europe, the UK subsidiary of Putnam Investments, has appointed Nadine McQueen Reed to its institutional marketing division. McQueen Reed joins from Morgan Grenfell Asset Management after three years with the firm. Her appointment comes in response to the dramatic growth in Putnam's European funds, which have risen from $100m six years ago to $5.5bn. Anthony Ashplant, group head of legal and compliance at M&G Group, has been promoted as an executive director of the company. Edward Rumble and Russell Hartley have moved to hedge fund operator Bayard Partners as managers of the Bayard Funds. Rumble joins from Fidelity where he worked as an analyst specialising in European technology stocks for the past four years. Hartley joins after a year at Galileo Capital, having previously spent three years as an analyst at GT Asset Management (now Invesco), where he focused on European equities. Kazuhito Yoshihara has been appointed chief executive officer of West LB Asset Management Japan. He was previously a director and senior fund manager at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management. Norman Murray has been appointed non-executive director of Glasgow Income Trust. Until December Murray was chairman of Morgan Grenfell Asset Management. He is also a past chairman of the British Venture Capital Association and a former council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland.
