Citadel Securities is growing its rates business with a Squarepoint Capital trading head
Citadel Securities has been making inroads into the rates trading market, particularly by expanding its team in Europe. The electronic market maker is also hiring rates professionals in the US, including a former hedge fund trading head in New York.

Andrew Buonauro has joined Citadel Securities as a fixed income execution strategist working across US treasuries, swaps and investment grade credit. He was most recently at quant fund Squarepoint, where he was global head of high-touch trading, but left the fund last May. Since then, he has been working as a self-employed investment manager.
Buonauro worked across various asset classes with Squarepoint but has a rates trading background; he spent four years trading a BlueCrest. He also worked at macro hedge fund Element Capital as a director for five years.
Citadel Securities made various additions to its rates team last year, including Goldman Sachs MD Keith Cynar and Morgan Stanley MD Jordan Brink, who were hired in March to run US rates sales.
The firm isn't just hiring senior rates people. It also has a trading internship open in its European rates business, available in either London or Paris; Bunoauro proposed to his wife outside the Eiffel Tower, so may want to visit the latter office if he ever gets nostalgic.
